Backlink Acquisition - SOP's For Gaining Backlinks

Table of Contents

Sponsorships, Partnerships, and Donation Outreach

One of the easiest and fastest ways to acquire backlinks is simply paying for them.

Luckily, charities, sponsorships, and other non-profits are often happy to trade dollars for backlinks, and they’re usually pretty easy to find.

Unfortunately, the low-hanging fruit is usually the least value. Regardless, it’s a great place to dip your toes in the exciting world of link-building.

Step 1 - Make A Spreadsheet To Organize And Track Opportunities

Your spreadsheet should include:

Organization Name – URL – Brief Mission Statement – Contact Name – Contact Email / Contact Page (If There’s No Other Contact Info Besides The Contact Form)

It’s also wise to include a:

First Contact Attempt Date – Follow-Up Date – Success? – How Much?

Step 2 - Find Your Link Opportunities

For this, we’re going to use the help of Google.

Now, I know what you might be thinking… I’ll search “Ottawa Charities”… And, hell ya if that works! It could!

BUT, anyone who ranks well for that probably gets lots of outreach like we’re about to do… So… The higher the demand, the higher the price.

So, I’d like to find obscure opportunities. But let’s go for big ones, too!

  1. Search the obvious terms to find charities: Ottawa Charities. Top Ottawa Charities. Ottawa Sponsorships. ETC. Compile these into a list.
  2. Make A List Of Popular Neighbourhoods In Your City. E.g. Ottawa, Orleans, Nepean, Barrhaven, Ottawa South, Kanata, Stittsville, Bayshore, ETC.
  3. Make A List Of Search Terms Similar To Sponsor:
    1. Sponsors
    2. Donors
    3. Donators
    4. Patrons
    5. Contributors
    6. Partners
    7. Backed By
    8. Benefactors
    9. Backers
    10. Supporters
    11. Givers
    12. Associated With
    13. Collaborators
    14. Sponsor Us
    15. Sponsor Our Team
    16. ETC
  4. Make A List Of Good Search Terms
    1. <City/Neighbourhood> <sponsor term above>: Ottawa Sponsorships
    2. <City> “sponsor terms” – e.g.: Ottawa “Sponsorships”
    3. <city> intitle: Sponsor Us – e.g. Ottawa intitle: sponsor us
    4. <City> + “Sponsor term” – e.g.: Ottawa + “Sponsors”
    5. <City> + inurl: <sponsor term> – e.g.: Ottawa + inurl:sponsor
    6. allintitle:<city> + <term> – e.g. allintitle:Ottawa + sponsor
  5. Start clicking on websites and finding contact information including emails and names.
    1. If you’re having a hard time finding contact info, try using: https://hunter.io/
    2. Or: Voilanorbert.com – but we gotta pay for this one.

Step 3 - Contact Them!

My Company Can Sponsor Jacob Gives

Body:

Greetings, Logan,

My name is Jake and I’m a new team member at JTP.

I’ve been tasked with an assignment that I think could benefit you. The marketing manager has given me a small budget and tasked me with boosting our online presence as much as possible.

I wanted to see if you would be interested in a small donation in exchange for a spot on your sponsorship page. If not from your sponsorship page, perhaps a linked mention somewhere on your site or in a guest blog post that I write.

I’m open to ideas and I’m hoping to help!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Jake
